I woke up this morning to find one of my neons dead, but the worst thing was its guts were burst out of its stomach  the poor little thing. They were all fine last night showing no signs of disease or illness so i dont have a clue what happend. All my water perams are good, the fish in the tank have lived fine together for the last 5 months.I feed the fish once a day with either flake or bloodworm .Does anyone have any ideas whats caused this? :dunno: :(

what kind of algea eater do you have? Some of them, like CAE get agressive when they get larger. That is probly the reason that your tetra died. Or it could be because tetras are very weak fish, and it died and the algea eater ate it and it ate its guts.

You may be right i think the alge eater has grown quit a bit so i will keep an eye on it im not sure what kind it is it was just sold at the lfs as an alge eater. Its a silvery grey colour with a darker stripe running along the body and a paler zig zag pattern running along side the stripe. :dunno:

sounds like a CAE. chinese algea eater, btw

they get agressive when they get older and bigger. They get to be about 10 inches I think.
