Ok, so I have made my order with Trimar today, for the Forktails and the Neon Rainbowfish.

I have bought two pairs of the forktails and thats all fine, however when I asked for 3 females 1 male of the Neons, he stated the females were in short supply, but if they didnt have the females then he would send all 4 male. Now they're lovely fish so I don't mind, but my question is will they become aggressive towards one another?

Also, when introducing females (once I find a supplier for them!) what should I do. Obviously I need to at least try to trade the males for the females as a straight swap, but if not do you think it would be best to just leave the 4 males, as I have heard if you have for example 4 male 4 female, there will be alot of harrassment?

I have 5 males and 5 females, neither groups have shown any aggression or harrassment towards each other at all, they all swim together very well.

They are great fish to watch.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was concerned because I have bought these fish for a few reasons.. there colouration, activity, and ease to breed. :)

4 males won't be a problem. They'll spar a bit, but I've never seen any real damage done.
3 females and 1 male might be a bit boring. Since the male doesn't have to be competitive to get the girls.
3 f, 2m or just equal number will be a lot more interesting. (Providing your tank is big enough)

They will be going in the 180L, with around 17 cories, and then just 7 other community fish. The mid and top sections are almost empty at the moment..
