Ive saw some neon-orange cory cats at a lfs a few weeks ago. They didnt look dyed, but I dont know. I cant see this place ever selling dyed fish. They were pretty cool looking, but VERY expensive ($14.99 each).

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you. :)

A pic would be needed to make sure, but I would say yes, they are dyed (especially for a price like that!)

If they were a dull orange, that would seem natural, but a neon orange for cories? Seems unlikely to me.

They could be Corydoras adolfoi (i think thats the ones  ) which have a bright orange spot on their back, one of the shops near me regularly has these in and they have assured me they are not dyed.

Thanks for the info and links. That is exactly them in tide's link. They are beautifull fish.

Just called the store and they said they only have one left, but said he might be getting more in tomorrow's shipment. He then assured me that they would never sell ANY dyed fish. I'm very happy to hear that.

They have a web sight, but it hasn't been updated in a couple of weeks.

I dont know how to post link, but the sight is www.oldtownaquarium.com
They are kinda pricey, but they get excellent stock and as you can see, some pretty exotic fish. Might have to take a walk over there tomorrow... :shifty:

Gotta love the stores that are owned and operated by serious fishkeepers like us. :)

Hi cometcattle :)

They are definitely not dyed! They are the most beautiful corys that could ever be, it the one I saw recently is a typical example!

A few weeks ago I saw one, and that was the only one that came into the lfs with that shipment! They wanted $16.99 for that beauty, but since it was only one fish I passed on it. Had it been a pair..............

This was a new lfs that had a very knowledgeable young man as manager of the fish department. He told me that on the rare occasions that they are able to buy them, they usually sell for between $20 and $30 each, with the green ones being the most expensive.

The fish I saw was gold colored and had a gold stripe running its length. It looked like it had a neon tube buried in it's flesh. It was amazing and beautiful!

Good luck, and I hope you can get some.

Very kool! Glad to know they're not dyed and glad to know of a new cory! New to me anyway.
I have never seen any around here, but my area has a very bad fish selection.

Hi cometcattle :)

Have you been back to the store yet? Any good news? :dunno:

i see those cories pop up now and again on aquabid - thanks for letting me know they're not dyed! :D Now I won't feel leery to bid on them next time.

Don't know why, but I get the angriest at dyed cories (angry at all dyed fish though)! :grr:

The next day I found out there is going to be a HUGE rummage sale at a school near my home so I'm kinda saving my cash. Guess what I'll be looking for. Yep, another tank. :shifty:

I plan on being there when the doors open Saturday, and if I see a tank, get out of my way. :flex: (If it's a good deal and glass only)

Also, I had to play musical tanks with 2 corys and a rogue yo-yo(fun trying to catch those guys, OMG), so untill I get another tank or put substrate in my 10g fry tank, it would be wise fo me to hold off on corys for now.

I'm afraid to even walk into that store because I know I'd be floating a bag 30 minutes later.

If I find anything cool, I'll let you know.

They're very cheap here in Singapore, but please avoid buying them! They're unnatural and do more harm to the species than good!
