Is it ok to have Harlequin Rasboras or Glowlight Tetras and Neon Tetras together?

I am down to 3 Neons and don't want to get any more, instead I want to get some Harlequins or Glowlights. Will they be ok with neons, and will it be ok to add a few at time. At the moment i would only be able to put 4 in with the 3 Neons, I know that both like to be in a big group and i am unsure of adding more after the neons have all gone. :huh:

Yes - they'll be ok together - but none of them would be as happy as they would be with more of their own kind.

It's a difficult one - I expect lots of us have got fish in numbers that are less than ideal because over the years one or two fish have died.

The best thing to do - if you no longer want to keep neons - is probably to re-home them with someone who's got a larger number ... but I know it's not that easy. And I say this knowing full well that I have a group of only three pentazona barbs, a group of four glowlight tetras and two glowlight rasboras (but those aren't entirely my fault - they came as an unexpected freebie!) :p

I don't know anyone with neons, but i don't want to get rid of them :/ Will leave it for a bit longer to see what happens in the tank.

They won't be happy at all in such small numbers, the risk of them dying due to stress/lonelyness is greatly increased when neons are kept in such small numbers. Basically as a responsable fishkeeper, you need to do whats best for the fish in your tank right now, which would be either;
a. Increase their numbers to at least 5-6.
b. Rehome them- you can use the forum or a lfs for this, even i might be able to adopt them for you.

Same goes for the danios- danio's should be in a group of at least 5-6, leopard and zebra danios are just different colour/pattern variations on the same type of danio, you should add at least 2-3 more to your group.
IMHO, if you can't accomodate the fish you have properly, you just simply shouldn't keep them unless you start making changes now :nod: .
What is the length and width of the tank?

The tank is 51 x 35 x 54.

I will be getting some danios this weekend then, I like them to much to get rid of them.

Could I get some cardinals to go with the neons?

They are two different types of fish, you should get neons (not cardinals though as you don't have enough space to start up a completely new shoal of fish) as they will only shoal with each other.
