Hi ive been to my LFS and they had 5 Neolamprologus leleupi im would have bought them but a couple of them were vertical (head towards surface, tail towards substrate.) Is this normal behaviour for these fish or do they have some illness?
Thanks

Never had them so can't be certain, I have seen my dwarf comps doing the same thing when making a stand against each other, hopefully someone else can help . . .

Lisa had some of these so hopefully she'll be along. I think she ended up taking them back to the lfs as they were too aggressive.

I have kept leleupi and found them to be some of the nastiest fish in my tank, even my local MA will only have one leleupi in their huge display tank  The more you have the nastier they can be too so it doesn`t even cut down any aggression by upping the numbers
Some people will tell you that they`ve kept leleupi and had no problems with them but I think the majority possibly tend to have them in a tank that suits the level of aggression that leleupi can have. My tang tank is a very peaceful one so the level of the leleupi aggression didn`t suit the other fish at all.

What else do you have in your tank and what size is the tank?

Leleupi do swim with their heads slightly upwards but not as much as your post suggests  Have a watch of this vid I found on youtube, it will give you the idea of how leleupi typically swim and move around:

Thanks everyone.

I had didnt think they were that aggressive. I was going to buy 5 so would this be a problem? i currently have 6 multies and lots of fry, but am getting crypts soon fingers crossed and then maybe a calvus, and julies.

i hadnt thought of youtube  watched a few videos and will go back to LFS and watch them a bit more.

So do you think getting these would be a good idea/posable?

Cheers

Personally I wouldn't do it in my tank, I have seen on another forum where someone had them in with Mulites, Halenthius, and some other psycho nutjob Tang and did not have a problem, up to you but I wouldn't TBH . . . .

Cheers, Sean

I had to move my multis from the 380L to a separate 35L because the leleupi were constantly trying to get them and any fry out of the shells. They`re nasty little b uggers and I personally wouldn`t touch them again with a barge pole. Obviously I can only give you my opinion but I would advise against adding leleupi with the stock you already have

The calvus and a single juli would be great additions :good:

Hi i dont think i will bother with them in the end. I will be going a bit further a field this weekend to look for some diferent tangs :good:
Thanks
