I only have a glass hood on a 75 FOWLR tank (2years old) and want to get into reef (this could be removed and chucked np either way I can get plenty of gass exchange with it on or off so which ever works best for the lighting problem.

I've researched the best I can and for many reasons I wish to go with t-5. I'm done with the debate of which light over another.

I'm fine with purchacing from reefgeek. Good if not the best prices and plenty of threds with happy customers.

Where I need help:
............................
There are basically 2 packages I am looking at.
first:

https://www.reefgeek.com/products/c...ing/104205.html

This package comes with 4 crudy bulbs.. I figure I could use 2 of them and get 6 others. Total around 625... with the hanger thing 650.

Unfortunatly the caps are not waterproof, and there is no cover...

now I could just hang it and leave the glass hood on... though I am not sure how high I should raise this from the water (or how high to hang from the celing... and how much heat this would produce... making me have to take the glass lidds off any how.

Aparently it is not difficult to dyi an acrylic cover onto the hood..

If this cant rest on the glass (because of too much heat) then Eventually I would need to make a skirt (even I can dyi though and I can wait for the summer and use my bro's tools).

seccond:

this is 660 (inc bulbs) and it has moist proof endcaps
I would HAVE to dyi a hood (which I have no confidence in doing) I would also have to get some fans...
I'm not sure if the moist proof endcaps are enough or you also need to get a cover of some sort?

It seems that option one is the way to go... though I obviously am missing some details...
If you could help me with finalizing these questions, I would most apriciate it.
