ive got a male bristlenose who is constantly in one of my logs fanning and guarding the log he's been doing this for about a week i cant see right down into the log to see if theirs eggs does he do this normally or do you reckon im on to some babys cheers

if he is doing thi s then yes it will just be a matter of time before the female is alowed in to put her eggs in. :good:

so do you not reckon theirs already eggs in there cause ive separated him from the rest of the tank by putting a divide in the tank. do you think i should take it down?

yes take it down!!!
 
if he is fanning then there is probably eggs already in there, the eggs take around 3 days to hatch then a further 10 ish days before dad will let them wonder a little by this time they look like minitures of the adults :)

not nescesseraly as they will fan before eggs there as well before breeding

take seperater away he will protect the cave and not let anyone come near it!

This is not true, males will practice fanning before they breed and will also fan to clean the cave that they want to breed in. My male was fanning for weeks before the spawn.
 
no eggs in their bugger, dont think i should of separeted them i think he was trying to entice her in the log, ah well you ive and learn

:good: second that. all of my males will fan there caves for weeks prior to letting the females in. If hes been fanning away its a good sign he is ready to breed
