I'd like to get a fish (preferrably a catfish) that is a good algae eater. I need one that won't get much bigger than two inches, and will do well in a community tank. I know everyone is fond of ottos, and I wouldn't mind them, I was just wondering if there's anything else out there.

Hi dixaisy930 :)

I think ottos are probably your best bet. Corys won't do the job and unless you have a very large tank you will want to avoid plecos.

However, I don't know how many ottos it takes to clean a tank of algae. :dunno: Maybe someone will post and give us some info on that.

Perhaps it would really be best to look into the reason you are getting algae in your tank. It might be easier to stop its growth by means other than adding fish that you would not ordinarily want. :D
