I'd go for this one, personally. EboJager heater. It is German-made, which pretty much means it is one of the best quality filters, because in Germany they have such high safety standards. I've got one in my 4 gallon, and it doesn't flucuate at all. It's worth the extra money.

Personally i don't think you need to pay extra for a heater
:p sorry io don't think it's worth it they wouldn't sell them if they sucked
and about the germans i thought the had good stuff cause all there geniuses, make cars and appliances instead of bombs and guns and such  shouldn't listen to the idiots who write into C/D

I'm going to go against pretty much everyone in the world on this one, and say that I don't like Ebo-Jager heaters. Maybe I just got a bad one.

I bought one recently for a new tank, and I find that they really heat up the water in the space around the heater (say, within 3/4 of an inch of the tube). With the water temperature stable and the thermostat set at 80 (and my thermometer across the tank registering 80), I find that when the heater's on, the water within that 3/4" area can get up to 90 degrees.

(edit: it's a 100W heater on a 20g tank, so I don't think oversizing is the problem).

It does keep the tank at the correct stable temperature, but I don't particularly care for the pronounced "hot spot".

I've had a 150 Rena Cal Top Light Excel in my 29 gallon for about a month now and it keeps my tank temp within a couple degrees (2 degrees max.) of what it's set at. I like it considering what I had before (100 watt Whisper 10-30) which would fluctuate up to 5 degrees over/under of what it was set at.
