Need someone to recognise a species for me

This was sold to me as a "tiger shovelnose catfish". But as its growing its kinda looking more like a red tail tiger shovelnose hybrid, aka a leopard catfish.
Have i been swindled?, is this a pure TSN or RTC x TSN?

(sorry for bad photo quality hes swimming really fast)

That's the size they are sold at not the size they grow to

The future size isn't the issue - all these fish are short lived in tanks the size that one's in. I'd assume the original poster knows what size is involved.
