Hi, I am thinking of getting some Congo tetras but I am wary of getting any larger fish as any I have bought have picked at my apple snails, all the fish I have are pretty small, the largest being a swordtail and I am worried the congos might eat them. Everything I have read on them says that they are peaceful fish but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience they could share!

The other fish I have are black phantom tetras, von rio tetras, cardinal tetras, danios, guppies and cories.

Thank you!

Heya,

What tank size do you have?

As far as I know they are relatively peaceful. They like to be in good sized shoals (6 as an absolute minimum) and they do get pretty big!

Do a google search for them and look at as many sites as possible. That should give you a decent overview of adult size, minimum tank size, etc.

Hiya, its 260l. I got the congos, there was four looking for a new home and I am planning on getting another couple - theyre gorgeous, they are the centre piece of the tank and dont bother a soul.

Depending on numbers of the other fish I think they will be okay, while they will eat guppy fry they wont eat your other fish :) Top up your 4 to at least 6 that would be great :)
