Hi there!

Im trying to change my aquascape of the aquarium and was thinkin about having a little "road" of sand between two heaps of gravel (one on either side). My only question is: How can i put the sand in my tank, when it has water in it? I already have an established tank with residents; if i try to pour sand like ive pictured, it just disperse everywhere in the water and its gonna settle everywhere.Im new at the whole scaping project and want to get right on it. How do i tackle this problem easily? All ideas are appreciated!

Thanks!!

If I was going to do it I would funnel sand into an old 2L soft drinks bottle, and cap it. Then put the bottle in the tank UPSIDEDOWN, remove the lid and use your thumb over the end of the bottle to control the flow of sand. that way the sand will remain 'dry' allowing you to pour it exactly where you want it.
This is just my thoughts though, I've never done any aquascaping, and certainly never tried this, but I can't see why it wouldn't work :good:

get a large bucket and fill it with water from the tank, catch the fish and put them in the bucket, cover the bucket with something.

drain the tank, sort out your new aquascape, fill tank back up with water, add fish back to the tank when the water is up to temp.

:good:

remember the sand and gravel will mix over time if you don't do something to stop them from merging, people often use little bits of plastic to form dividers between different areas of substrate.
