i am thinking of changing one of my 15G to a slightly cooler temp around 20-22 degrees, going to plant it up, loads of bogwood/rocks etc

now stocking wise i am thinking

WCMM and Hillstream loaches

maybe 10-15 WCMM
but how many Hillstream loaches? 3-4 or is that too much?

well I am not all that knowlable I would say you would want to find one that doesn't grow larger then 2-3in since all loache need to be kept in groups of 6+. I'm not sure what temp Chain Loache need to be kept at but they are small. Coolie and YoYo may be good as well?

Yeah i agree on the size front, am currently looking through the index for suitable ones, then will see if i can find them, they are all very nice looking fish

Have a short list of 4 possible candidates that are 2 inch

Gastromyzon ctenocephalus
Gastromyzon ocellatus
Gastromyzon scitulus
Sewellia lineolata

now its finding one of them

Nope - sorry. no experience - But I just been looking at all the loach info I can find, and most of them seem to be happier at around 24 to 26 degrees C.

There were a few that grow 7-ish cm. But couldnt find any in your temperature range.

thats the difference with hillstream loaches they prefer cooler temps with high water movement, same as the WCMM so a good match i think

hmm i may have a change of plan, someone in the loach area suggested treadfins as better tank mates, guess i'll just have to see what the LFS has on the day

Hi lilfishie :)

If you like corydoras, the species C. paleatus would fit your temperature requirement and, (unless the water movement is so strong that they have to fight it) like well oxygenated water.
