Ok, Stupid me...I turned the light off to syphon the tank, and the whole Fixture fell into the tank. :X

Thank God it was off...So in fear of electricution, I need to buy a new light. Is there any recommended wattage for a small 10 gallon tank with a FEW live plants? What type of light should I get? I had a 15 Watt Flurecent bulb. Should I stick with that??

Thanks!

How were you plants doing with your light? Normally you want 2-3 watts per gallon. For some plants (the ones with red, pink, etc) they need more light.

I have a 10 gallon planted tank and I took a regular light fixture which came with the 10 gallon tank and did a DIY retrofit with a kit i bought from ahsupply (www.ahsupply.com). I now have two 13 W bulbs in the fixture and gives me 2.6 watts per gallon and I've never have had a problem with any plants.

But, if you don't want to do that, and if your plants were doing fine before, I'd just get the same kind of light.
