Need Help!

Okay so just yesterday I bought a crowned male betta for my girl and she has the vertical reproductive stripes and all but the problem is over night I left then together in the same tank and this morning besides the stripes her fins are all torn! And I have no idea why, so I seperated them till I find a reason for her fins...
