Ok so as the title says theres something on my parents fish that keeps on coming back week after week, when you clean the tank it goes away but towards the end of the week it just comes back again. Thing is it's only on certain fish, It's on the 2 Tinfoil Barbs and The 3 Parrot Cichlids. It looks as if they are shedding, it's all flakey but I don't have a clue what it is. The Parrots start acting funny towards the end of the week when it hits them, they all hide away in a corner upside down, nose first into the gravel or on there sides but as soon as you tap the tank they get up. In the pic the Barb does have a bit of fungus, I know that I just dunno what the other stuff is. Heres the pics of whatever it is.

Also I dunno what the water stats are or anything, plus the tank has just finished being cleaned today.

Could be columnaris, but it doesnt usually go away on its own, could also be a reaction to the new water, is it dechlorinated?

Do the fish have clamped fins? Does it look like they have been spinkled in talculm poweder? Are they rubbing/scratching themselves?

They don't do any of what you said and it doesn't look like talculm powder, it's all stringy like, pretty weird. I dunno if it's the water, we don't dechlorinate or anything and I use the same water as my parent and I have never had anything like this. As far as I know the waters fine. The stuff is dissapearing but it will be back again around wednesday. Seems to get worse everytime it comes back though. Chances are it looks like it's gone away but it's still lingering in the water.I found a couple pics of columnaris and it does kinda look like it but the pics ain't good so I can't be sure, Anybody got any pics of columnaris? If it is columnaris though howcome it doesn't spread to all the other fish?

Just another message to say that I've just checked the fish and it all seems to be gone again and the Parrots are up and swimming around. This will happen again so please I really do need some ideas as to what it is. thanks

It could possibly be velvet disease the advanced stage?

Sadly i have very little knowledge of fish diseases, but i hope you diagnose and find a remedy soon. Good luck.

Saviour! :hyper: I think you may be right, found 1 pic of Velvet Disease on a Betta and it looks exactly the same, it has the white stringy bits inbetween the scales which is what the barbs and parrots have. Will search a bit more but def pretty positive this is it. thanks
