i have a used tank, They had goldfish in it and i want to put tropical fish in it do i have to do the cycle thing?? :/ or can i just put new water in it then put the fish in?

well you could put some ammo chips in the filter that should be okay
Why put ammo chips in?!! They just delay the inevitable!

I think you will have to cycle the tank if there are no fish in it at the moment as all the bacteria etc will have died off leaving it basically new.

i don't think there was any diseeses in the tank but yes some fish did die

As I said, any bacteria will have died off now. Good and bad, unless the water is still in it?

Either way, you are going to have to re-cycle I think as you may as well be starting from scratch once there has been no fish in the tank for any length of time.

one more thing :kana: i was are crabs anygood for a pet or are they just a pain to take care of? should i just stick with fish?

Crabs are incredible escape artists. In addition you will have to re-cycle the tank like C.S. said :)
