Think it would be better to remove the parents if possible, failing that depending on your tank size you could make a divider to give them a better chance

what's a jellybean?

If you have fry that fall through a breeding net, then put them into a 2litre ice-cream bucket with some tank water and an airstone that is bubbling away very gently. Float the bucket in the tank and change the water each day. Plastic clamps can be used to hold the bucket to the side of the tank. Alternatively glue some polystyrene foam to the top edge of the bucket and it will help it float.

hi thanks for that i got one with smaller holes and got the fry but felt sorry for the parents as they were searching for them so put them back in there getting all the fry and putting them back in the ship . hears a pic of parents and a bad pic of fry

i asked my fish shop and they said there great parents and if i put them back withing a few hours they still know its there fry so will collect them and put them back

Ok, gotcha, jellybean is a funny convict cichlid :)

These guys make great parents so you don't have to do anything with the fry. Just leave the parents to look after them. All you have to do is provide food for the fry when they start swimming around. The babies will eat microworms and newly hatched brineshrimp.

If the parents don't look after the young now (because you moved their home) then don't worry too much because they will probably breed again soon.

they seem to be doing ok i just went to feed them and the male flew to the front of the tank so i guess he was worning me stay away but they seem happy the female gets abit of food ,then goes straight back into the ship , they are sso loving to there fry i cant belive it lol when i bred guppys i didnt like it as they sometimes ate there fry ,but these jellybeans are the best they give me so much intrest there fab 110% just wish there were more sites to read up on them as i think theres only a few as theres not many. but im enjoying gathering info so i can let these guys have the best in there little lives

Yeah, they should make good parents so I'd leave the fry with them. If they are first time parents however they might take a few goes to get everything right, but they will eventually.

It might get to the point however when the parents are ready to spawn again so will eat the fry. My honduran red point pair do this (normally about 3 weeks or so), its unfortunate as I don't have the room to raise more fry but its one of these things you have to accept.
