Hey all!
As I mentioned earlier, I am making a pond. Just clarifying, it isnt actually a pond, it is a "concrete cup" like this picture [not mine just concept] with lotuses and mollies and guppies.
The fish are ready already, adopted them from someone who has a pond with too many fish. The fish consist of guppies, loads of babies too, And a couple of mollies. One of the mollies was incredibly strong. Yesterday I was staring at the fish and went to get fish food. When I came back and continued staring for about ten seconds I noticed the biggest Molly was missing. When I got up, the fish had flopped itself to the living room and my Dad was panicking. I picked up the fish and put in thinking it was dead. It was motionless and then it started swimming faster than ever. Anyway wow that was quite an experience for me. Back to the topic the "concrete cup" is the size of a moderate floaty, not more than a metre in length. It is coming today evening. The fish are fine been doing well. We plan to lay the bottom with a bit of soil, then release the fish, then get the lotuses and plant them in and voila we have a tank. I have a fish retailer nearby who can help me with over population, the guy has a predatory tank he has been keeping for two years now, he struggles to feed his aravanas. He has three silver aravanas, I've wanted to buy a baby for rupees 6000 [hundred dollars], problem was I saw how he fed it. The man let in a goldfish. The aravana being small was not able to devour the goldfish so it kept biting it and the skin came of and...ew...and I felt so bad and I left the shop.Lesson learned, predatory fish can be a problem if you dont have fish to feed them. That is how my friend's population was controlled, every month a bucket of fish was sent to the retailer in exchange for fish food and if the bucket had a ton of fish a shrimp or two. My friend has a nice little filter tank with loads of shrimp. Earlier he had four shrimp all males. The retailer was not giving females. Once he accidentally gave a shrimp carrying eggs. And after that soo many babies came and his tank is now full of tetras and shrimp. Anyway here are the pics of the guppies. The one on the right is how I got them. The one on the left is now in a huge bucket. Mollies are at bottom. 2 fish inside are dead, I tried removing em but the guppies started swarming towards my hands and I got scared and pulled it out lol. Anyway im not sure what species, just that the have a bit of red skin on the side and a black dot in the center. I have a slight clue on the mollies. I think the spotted one is a Dalmatian Molly [image of spotted Molly is not my Molly just very similar] Thanks a bunch!
