I am planning to add a light to my tank. Haven't confirmed what light yet, but have this 14W T5 tube in my mind. I am not familiar with any wiring at all. Can someone give me some basic idea to make my own lighting? What are the components and hardware I need to make one?

Hi,

Unless your competent with electrical work, you shouldn't really try and make a light fixture by yourself. A lot of design goes into making aquaria lighting damp/waterproof, and if you are competent, then you 'll know where to get the equipment from.

This isn't a put down, just being concerned with your safety, as we don't want anybody frying themselves!

You'll be better off buying a local version of thisif you want T5, or one of the similar T8 version on that site. Remember you'll need light controller, tube and maybe a reflector.

HTH!
