The two that I am looking at are Marineland Penguin 200B Power Filter and the Penn Plax Cascade 300 Power Filter.

I want to put this on my 30 gallon tank. I know overkill but that is the way I like it. Not sure if it would fit so I need to figure that out.

But I wanted to know what you guys think about these two brands. I have always been a fan of the bio-wheel but I am willign to try somehting new if it is worth it. Does anybody use or know about the Penn Plax Cascade filters???

HEre are some links:

Or if you guys have other suggestions on nice oversized filters I could get for my 30 gallon let me know.

figured you deserved an answer of some sort, so here goes... ;)

I have a penguin 170, which I hate. But that's me. My biowheel is forever getting stuck and not turning properly, no matter what I do to maintain it. Damn thing. I have an aquaclear though, which I adore. It's fabulous, and I wish I had bought the same for my bigger tank. Cheap to run, and crystal clear. Love it.

I know nothing about the Penn Plax.

Why are you so set on something powerful? What types of fish are you housing/ getting? My aquaclear (even though properly sized) often creates too powerful a current for some of my smaller, more delicate fish (tetras). For a while I was always finding a few suctioned to the intake.... :( Not a good thing.

Maybe you're keeping goldfish... or some other poop machine..?

Good luck with your decision.
