I have to bring my 75g down to this house in the next 4 hours and i just noticed the tank is 2" longer than the stand it is going on, do you think it will crack or it will be ok?
hmmm. 2 inches isnt that much off. maybe, if you can, fill it up with water,(with nothing in it) and let it sit for a while to see if it will crack or not.
a piece of wood sat on top of the stand..to sit the tank on so the weight is distributed evenly? Or sit the tank on the floor until you can get another stand?
I think I would cut a piece of plywood to fit the tank and put it on the stand before putting the tank on it. You could also stain or paint the plywood to match the stand.
Personally I don't think I'd let the edges hang off, if it were my tank. I'd be afraid the stress from weight would crack or break the glass. Water is heavy..and a 75 gal tank will have alot of water in it. So lot's of pressure.
if theres no water in it for storage then theres no problems,
dwarf_dude, that kinda a dumb suggestion, he asking if thers a problem, so why would he go and try it if he doesnt no if it oculd crack, and then if it cracks he's screwed lol kinda silly
I'm with SRC. I don't think I'd risk it either. I'd let the tank sit empty on the floor (with it's protective padding/packaging), until I got a properly-sized stand.
If it were my tank, I'd take the chance that everything would be OK with only one inch hanging off each end, providing that the rest of the tank had good support.
Looking at my tanks, I have several 20 gallon tanks hanging off their stands (milk crates) by 2 inches or more on each side, with no problems. I think that balance is more important. Will the tank be level?
guess what, i came home with the tank and relized i didnt setup the stand so i stuck with my dad with a 75g in our hands so i said stuff it and we put it on the floor
