I'd rather do what Byron suggested, seems more humane. thanks for the suggestion, the red fish btw if anyone was wondering is doing ok, his head is pink but there is 1 thing, and as I said I've been treating it and him. but he has the stress coat building up on the spots where he is scale less at. so im hoping that either nature takes its course on him or he's just ok, honestly I've had him for 3 years so that would really suck for me if he died, my fish are my brothers and sisters so to speak.

Its always a bit of a hot topic when it comes to euthanising fish, otherwise healthy or sick.

So do not take it to heart some of the comments BettaBettas as its the passion of the fishkeeper, its not a personal attack.
As Sqidneh says, life happens and the best laid plans do not always happen, I know this personally with my plans I had with tanks

I do hope you manage to find a LFS or someone who is willing to take on a CAE, but even if you go down the route of euthanisia, its is understandable and one decision thats never taken lightly.

I have euthanised fish a couple of times in the past, not pleasant but had to be done.

Best of luck

I think I remembered the name of the euthanizing product - I think it's called Aqua-sed. Google will be your friend :)

Personally I would drive for several hours to find someone who could re-home a fish but we need to remember not everyone has access to a vehicle. Whilst I would agree that our passion for our fish drives us there's no excuse for being unkind. I really feel for you bettabettas ... I'm currently in a similar situation with a SAE that needs to chill out and I know how stressful it is.

well thanks everyone who helped, would like to announce that he definitely isn't going to get euthanized now, as someone has offered to take him off my hands if Petco doesn't take him first! SOMEONE GIVE ME A HIGH FIVE lol *throws hands in the air and dances with the ellaine dance moves* *thumbs*

If you know how to ship fish, (pretty easy, just bag with a breather bag, basically free) I would take him off your hands. Inhumane and hes going to a good home. (I have about 12 different tanks inside my house and outside, I think he would fit good in my outdoor aquatic plant nursery tank, LOTS of algae).
Just read your latest post. Nice!

HES GONE EVERYONE, I got to know the Petco manager very well and shes very generous, she took him off my hands and started to acclimate him in front of me and I was so surprised and happy! don't tell petcos district manager though because petcos private policy states in not aloud to take in pets
