Need filtration for 5 gal?

Hey all! Just wondering...I am buying a stand for my 10 gallon tank which houses 3 hermit crabs! The bottom shelf also holds one of those 5.5 gallon tanks! My question-I have had my beautiful, extremely healthy Beta Boy-Patrick in a little 1.5 gallon bowl for about 1-2 months now. Can I put him in the 5.5 gal? Would he prefer more room? Now-If I did this, will I need to do a filter and all? Or should I just get something else to put in that tank?

Yeah I woudl cycle it, which means it needs a filter. A 5 gallon gets old FAST changing... trust me

I love filters.

I don't think a filter is necesary, but since it is a bigger tank I don't think one with a very low current could hurt.
