there is a pic of this plec in the november issue of pfk in a hikari advert(top of the page), page 21

it a greenish colour with darker lines and patterns going down its body. its a stunning fish

the fish in the pic in pfk has lighter colour almost green/white-it may just be a slightly different species or a just really good looking fish.

There are a few different "Royals" - the L27s, L190 (the "original" panaque nigrolineatus), and L191 (the Dull Eye Royal - which doesn't have the characteristic red eyes).

yup thats the one i think. 13.4 inches. needs a big tank then-hes on my wish/fish list

I think, but dont quote me on this, that they can get much bigger than 13", but it just takes years for them to grow - average being an inch a year. So if you got a baby one, you'd have plenty of time before it needed a massive tank

Looks like an L190 royal plec to me?

Not an L190 - stripes are too thin. Can't really tell if it's got reddish eyes, so hard to say if it's an L191 or one of the L27s which I don't know much about.

I dunno Kathy, the markings are nearly identical to the pic I posted. Check the fins, and then on the PFK pic you can see his stripes getting thicker further back.
