Hi

I'm having a slight problem in my tank at the moment  1 of my male guppy is having repeat attacks of finrot on his back tail which i treat him with an anti-bacterial remedy & Melafix and then he recovers and now today his tail has gone raggy again :-( i've checked my water and things are ok, he's in a 43 litre aquarium with 6 platies, 4 female guppies, 4 male guppies and 1 sucking loach.

Is it because im over stocked? i do water changes twice a week about 20%. Can someone give me some advice please of why this is happening all the time?

I am trying my best to convince parents in having the garage but they have said no  dunno what im gonna do.

Are you sure it's fin rot, or could it be one of the tankmates dirty work? :/ One of our Platties has been known to nip occasionally, or maybe your loach is havin a go?

I have heard varying reports on Melafix, but never used it myself. We use Maracyn-Two and it seems to do a great job, 5 days of treatment clears it up nicely.

perhaps some of the other male guppys are gelouse maybee 4 males in one tank is too many tho i havent bred gupps for a while now if it was going to be anyone in that tank i would watch them with a close eye... haveyou noticed any of them nipping or are you shure its fin rot? if it was because of over stocking i would expect to see other symptoms

every time I do a water change my pangasius always gets abit of finrot which normalerly clears up in a day or two.

I havent seen anyone nipping at him, i was really worried about him coz he took up residence at the back of the tank behind all the bushy plants  so i fished him out and put him in the qurantine tank, where he has perked up alot since yesterday.

Been offered a complete fish tank the size of the washing machine for £60-00!!!!! but 1 tiny problem no space, so im gonna store it until i find a garage to move my collection into. Dad is really keen but mum has said NO NO NO.

Never understand do they

sounds like he is better off in there as for the extra space im shure they will come round eventually.
