i saw both species today with a good few of each in the same tank and they both look nice fish, but dont know much about them, dont want to go buy a fish that is gonna end up massive and aggresive etc, this is the best place to ask and research, both of them were about 3-4 inches in length, the gar is stunning and just hovered in the water, and the bichir moved real n ice, somethimes quick

The two names you give are not recognised common names of any fish i am aware of, im guessing that the gar is a Xenentodon cancila HEREand that the bichir is a Polypterus senegalus HERE. Check the links and let us know if those are the fish you saw.

but not for me at this time, lol, maybe in a while when i get another tank set up and am used to everything fully again,

not sure if the pic your show in the link is the exact same, but shape and head etc are the same, this one today had a dot right in the middle of it's tail fin, big black dot
