hi ppl!!

hi i own 2 freshwater aquariums and ihave got myself on a tetra aqua art 30 tank
(holding 30 litres approx 7 UK Gallons i think)

i would like something different and i want to have it salt water with just live rock and substrate and a few corals.

what would i need?

i have a heater , fluval 2 plus filter (will this b ok 4 saltwater)

will i need a skimmer?

also anything else i will need?

thanks adam

Yes I'd get a good, quality skimmer. Your Fluval would be good for running media, however I'd suggest you invest in a decent amount of live rock and a refugium to make your reef semi-self supporting...makes things a lot easier IMO.

For a 7 gallon tank, no way need a skimmer soz valerie. IMO this what you will need for a tank that size and a few corals correct?

About 7lbs of LR so about 4-5 kilos.

Heater well you have got

Wont really need the fluval 2, unless u really want it as the LR is basically all you need for a filter :good: its natural and best biological way.

What lights are you running? IMO if you was going for mushrooms, zoos and softies id think a T8 bulb would be fine but if you upgraded too T5 or Power compact (better for nano) you could prehaps push to a few hardy and easy to keep LPS corals.

Salt

RO water so there is less waste in the water

Test kits basically ammonia,nitrite,nitrate, ph.

Sand best sand is aragonite sand

ph buffer 8.1-8.4

Just a few things to help, but if you want clever nano ppl go in the nano section they be better then me.

Oops! I didn't see the tank size. N1z's right skimmer's definitely not needed. I have a 20 US gallon nano that runs fine without a skimmer. Sorry about that!
