Hi Mods...I started with TFF and it's my homebase and first allegiance. Nano reefing is a growing subsection of marine aquariums. In fact, a TFF member got me interested in starting up a nano reef (Parker 313). There is a growing number of posts in the marine section related to starting up nano tanks. Although it IS a marine tank, there ARE differences in how they are run. The number and variety of tanks being designed and sold are expanding. JBJ has the Nano Cube. CurrentUSA is now adding a nano tank called the AquaPod. I hear that All-Glass is coming out with one too. It might be nice to have a Nano Reef subsection under the marine forum.

I understand that the marine area is much smaller as compared to the FW section. I still have my 46G and 10G FW tanks and continue to read here as well. It would still be nice to add a smaller growing area under the auspices of your Marine mods. I think it would round it out, add a little bit of a new look and perhaps even increase the membership. Just a thought. Thanks for your time. SH

Just today I was looking at PetCo's SW tanks with longing.
They are selling agricultured rock for $7.99.
I personally am intrested in a nano cube, i've seen them as cheap as $100 before!
I would love to ask questions, and learn about it there.
Just a thought...
And how much does it really hurt to add a sub forum?
With my Admin and Mod expirence, I know getting convinced is the hardest part.
And if it doesn't work out, or is very seldom used, it could always be closed and deleted.
Just my 2 cents..

i agree, well said steelhealr
I have been researching nano's for a while now and would like ton get some experience off people i can trust off here.

Thanks Dward Dude. We can only hope that one of the mods will read this and leave a comment and/or support it. SH

Hi SH.

Nano reefing has a completely different set of pitfalls when compared to Larger Marine tanks. Not only is the equipment more specialised but the very way the tank is maintained is different from a larger tank. I therefore agree that we need a Nano reef section. I have asked on 2 seperate occasions before for a nano section to be placed as a sub forum within the marine section and both of these occasions it has been discussed and rejected.
With the growing amount of members now running nano reefs compared to larger sized tank i fully back the idea of a Nano section so these 2 hobbies can be seperated. A beginner reading advice on a 100 gallon system will think its perfectly ok to do the same for a 10 gallon nano and this could spell disaster.

But thats the same as saying a newbie keeping 3 oscers in a 10G. It could very well spell disastor.
But if their on this forum, they'll very likely ask for help.
Then we can tell them w/e we need to on careing for proper care.

I was going to add a few more things, but I forgot -_-

Last bump to see if a mod besides Navarre will post. SH

Mods can post all they like but the decision is ultimately one only William can make. Personally i support the addition of a nano reef forum, its not a subject that interests me (i preffer my tanks and fish on a larger scale) but it is an important part of the hobby and any growth of the forum is good in my opinion.

Good idea, hope you get your section.

Since I'm in the middle of setting up my on nano, I'll push for this one....If only one voice ever changed the world...

Anyone have a contact with William? William..can I buy you a beer and talk this over? SH

I forwarded this link to William in case he hasn't seen it. William, if you don't like a cold frosty one, I can substitute tea or coffee. LOL. SH

 He's a student, try white lightning, turbo shandy or cider ;)

Edit: Just saw it's been added
