Hello everyone, It's been a while since I've been on the forums but I've found myself a rather puzzling question.

Here is the Sturisoma Twig tail catfish that I brought home from my LFS yesterday after eventually being talked into one by the owner:

However, I don't have a clue what kind he actually is! He/she was labelled as a Sturisoma aureum but after looking around, a  considerable amount of pictures of these fish don't really match up.. So I was hoping someone may know exactly what he/she is (Yea, I can't tell the gender either!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you say why you don't think it's Sturisoma aureum? What pictures are you looking at to make your decision?
I don't think it's Sturisoma festivum, and I also don't think your fish looks any of the the other fish in the genus!

Some of the pictures that I found showed the aureum to have just one colour with small black areas whereas my little specimen (well he's 4 inches so far but :p) has clear stripes over his stick-like tail and also well defined stripes on his fins. Who knows, maybe those pictures were also wrongly identified fish too! Anyway, the Planet Catfish Aureums don't quite look like mine either although I agree that he's definitely not a festivum! Hmm...
