My mystery snail has stayed in one spot for 3 days. He's placed himself near the top of the tank in a corner where the air hose is running down the side. So the air hose supports him and he doesn't have to hold on to the tank to stay there. Occasionally he holds on to the tank wall and other times he has his lid pulled partly closed. When I check on him he does flinch when he sees me move, so I know he's alive. I don't see any damage to his shell. I had to do a water change today and I put him down on the bottom until I changed the water. I noticed that he put out his breathing tube so I quickly did the water change and placed him back in the same spot.
Does anyone know if this is normal behavior? He's usually so active and only stays quiet for a day at the most. He was a good size when I bought him so I don't know how old he is. I've had him about 8 months.
Water parameters: ammonia - 0;
nitrites - 0 ;
nitrates - 20-40 ;
ph 7.6-7.8 ;
water temp - 74
