hi everyone, as you can tell from the question i'm just wondering if mystery snails are hte same as apple snails becuase i saw my lfs carrying mystery snails today :)

if theyr'e not the same, waht's the difference?

They are both apple snails. Petstores sometimes refer to them as mystery snails. The most common seem to be the 'golden' and striped brown. Here's a pic of different apple snail shells.

ooo neat thanks, yeah i saw msotly the striped brown ones at the petstore...i heard that these mystery/apple snails WON'T go and eat your plants, is that right?

Hi cutecotton :)

Sorry to have to say this, but I have a big gold mystery snail that I've seen settle down right in the middle of a plant. When he got comfortable, he proceeded to eat the tender young leaves in the center all the way down to the roots.

They're nice snails, but not a good choice for a planted tank.

Get Pomacea bridgesi (usually called golden apple snails) make sure they are not P. Canulicata and they will not touch your plants! :)

Yes that is a very good site. Good to see you around juan :)

great site :) been reading it for a while now... I'll be IDing shop snails before buying them - make sure my plants are safe :)

easy after a while... a while in the tank that is...
If i've got no plants left - i got the wrong one :D :D
