Hi,

I have recently had a disaster with my guppy tank and was looking for some answers.
I have been keeping marine fish and corals for years but recently had to move and was unable to keep up this part of the hobby so I decided to keep guppies to satisfy my love for fish.
I had 12 male guppies, all healthy and all doing very well for 2 months. Then I orders another 8 online to add. In a bit of a silly move I didn’t quarantine them in my excitement, a mistake I seriously regret now. Within the first day of them being in one of the new ones died and I thought this was due to stress of travel. However in the next week 3 more died and I again put it down to stress and travel. In the days following more of the fish seemed to be effected, with tails degrading and swimming effected. They were still eating fine and so I treated with methalyn blue. No more died for a week but then I lost 4 more in a day, 2 of which showed no prior symptoms. I moved to copper treatment after this. 2 more died during this and after a few days and no improvements I moved them into a fluke medication. This did appear to help and all the fish showed some level of improvement or no further deterioration. After 48 hours I did a water change but after 30 mins they weren’t doing well, floating around upside down for a few mins before bouts of fast swimmig. Within 2 hours of this all the remaining fish are dead.

My 3 other tanks all got water changes at the same time and none of these fish have been effected. All throughout nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels have been monitored and have been fine. All water is properly conditioned prior to addition. I have never seen fish act this way and have no clue what could have killed them so I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences or any ideas what it could be

If you maintain your tank well with zero ammonia and Nitrite, then diseases had killed your fish.

Fish will most likely show symptoms of disease on the first two weeks after they arrived.

Try to learn about fish diseases symptoms and treatments.
If I am not wrong, most common diseases for Guppies are Columnaris(bacteria), internal worms or parasites and flukes.
Did they show any symptoms of the above diseases?
You can read the internets for more information about fish disease.
