Mystery eggs??

I recently moved my fish to a 4 gallon tank from a smaller previous tank. I only have 2 albino cory cats and 1 neon tetra due to an unfortunate failure in the filter of my old tank.

I was planning on getting a few more tetras to put into the new tank, but obviously not too many as it has only recently been cycled, however I was away at college all day and came home to find my temperature reader (which is currently not displaying correctly) covered in yellow/whiteish eggs (will attach photos) I’m not really sure what they are, and it was a bit of a surprise seeing as all of my fish were confirmed to be male upon purchase. does anyone know what these are and what I should do about them?

I would say that one of your Cory cats are not a male afterall. If you want to keep them then move them before they eat them.

As for your stocking...you need at least a 20 gallon for albino corydoras along with neon tetras. Albinos can get 4 inches if allowed, but you are really going to be having problems with growth if you don't get a bigger tank soon.

I’ve been out today and bought a floating hatchery box and moved all of the eggs into it. Fingers crossed they do alright! Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply, I had no idea! I’m really new to fishkeeping and the people in the shop I bought them from said that the tank I had would be okay. I’ve been saving up to get a bigger tank anyway, so I’ll look into getting one ASAP.

So here's the way to check if your people at the store are right. Right after they give you advice, take out your phone, and check with reliable sources such as seriouslyfish.com. Those workers normally arent right but I'd give them a chance, but I take their advice lightly or not at all unless it is accurate.

At the end of the day, shop keepers, whatever the specialise in, are only there to take your money. It's best to find information out elsewhere.
