I just had something dawn on me. I have a 20g, a 10g and three 5g tanks sitting in the basement. How hard would it be to turn the 20g into a mystery/apple snail breeding tank? I figured I could order a few and hopefully breed them and sell them for a little profit. How hard is it to raise them? I know I would have to feed them algae wafers, vegies, flake food, and some calcium supplement, right? I think I could make some money if they breed and I sell the young ones for $.50 each.

Does this sound like it could be done?

Doubt you would make much money but they should cover their own costs through breeding. They have no special requirements an easy way to transfer the eggs to new tanks is to get a coke bottle base and semi submerge it clamping it to the side of the tank, then have an air pump bubbling into the the bottle and this will produce a very humid environment within the bottle making it preferential place for the momma to leave her clutch and you can just transfer the bottle to a different tank and allow the babies to hatch as opposed to possibly harming it by moving it by hand.

Do they have to be moved? Could I just let them hatch in the 20g and move to 10g tanks as needed?

Don't have to be although I think it would save you labour to hatch them in the other tanks up to you. Perhaps keep them in the main tank and only move them when they reach a sellable size so that you can easily see your stock number to report to buyers.
