I thought that my goldies were getting big and handsome enough to show them off a bit ;) I only have two - thank god, I don't have the right climate for a pond - who live together in a 30 gal, soon to be upgraded to a 75 gal :hyper: Their names are Tangaloor Firefins (mostly white with orange on fins and eyes) and Grizraz (orange with white side and band over nose). They started off life VERY rough (hence only 6in at 1 year); feeders dying of Ich, then were kept in a 5 gallon by my mom  Thankfully I was able to convince her that they needed a nice big tank, and they're now fat, healthy, 6 inch beauties. So, enjoy the pics. I know the tank is ugly as sin and I need a good algae clean-up, but since we're switching them so soon, it seemed silly to re-do everything.

(aw, too bad, it would be way cute if it wasn't so blurry)

Also, out of curiosity, is there any particular reason as to why Grizraz's body shape is so different from Tangaloor? They both have the same fins and basic physical traits, but Grizraz is more flat and tall, and Tangaloor is shorter and rounder. They both look like commons, but they're definately different.

Beautiful fish
As to them being different shapes it could be due to parent stock. If they arent from the same spawn then it is feasable that they will look slightly different. Maybe one is a female?? who knows, maybe someone else can tell you more.

Lovely fish, do they suck the glass balls up and spit them out, lol.

Love the one with the patch. So cute and full of character :D

Beautiful.
When i'm older, upon the dozens of large tanks I am going to own, a goldie tank is going to be amongst them..

They're absolutely gorgeous. I love the big commons. Beautiful.

Nice little goldies! I especially love the band on Grizraz's nose, give him such character. Any shots of the whole tank?

::laughs:: I never bothered with a full tank shot because the thing is so god-awful ugly. I can't wait until they move into the 75g so I can get some natural looking gravel, plants, and acessories. They do nothing but clack the marbles around all day; its driving me insane.

I'm glad everyone likes Grizraz! He started out as the "ugly" one, believe it or not; entirely gray, and very skinny. Somehow, he went through about a dozen color changes, from orange and black, to solid orange with a little "moustache" of black, to solid orange, and finally to orange and white. Wierd little bugger...
