Hi,

I noticed a sharp increase of those red/brown brush algae (hairy and sticking to my plants) in my 32 gal tank :( I wonder what would be suitable for me to do to totally eliminate or reduce these unsightly algaie from my tank. My equipment involves a 32 gal tank, 2 x 20W fluorescent tubes ( 1 Aqua-Glo and 1 Sun-Glo ), a home-made CO2 unit with the Hagen Plant-Glo diffuser/bubble counter. I kept the tank at around 76~78F. I have also added to my tank the fertilizer Plant-Gro. Today, my test showed the following values: PH = ~7.2, Ammonia=0, Nitrite=0, KH=10 dKH, GH=3~4 dGH. My lights are turned on for 2 hrs in the morning and then 8 hrs from afternoon to evening. There is only a trace of green algae in the tank but not a problem at all. I have 6 tiger barbs, 5 Serpae Tetra, 3 corydoras, 4 sunset platies and 2 goldfish (suprisingly, they all live happily without any injuries :p ) For plants, I have 4 echinodorus plaefolius var. latifolius and 3 hygrophila corymbosa.

I would appreicate your inputs to solve my algae problems.

Thanks in advance!

Nikki
