I had this a few days ago with a previous thread also about selling moss. i have checked it hasnt been moved and it hasnt. I have also checked 'my last 10 posts' and Nick16's Topics and it is not there! It lucky i have written down the details of who wants what but its getting beyond the joke....

Whats going on??

The buy, sell, swap rules have changed, maybe you've not posted according to the rules.

a mod will post on you post about the rules and if its not ammended within 24 hours theyre deleted which IMO IS PATHETIC!!! WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU PAID SOMEBODY SOMETHING? AND YOU LOOSE THE THREAD AND ALL CONTACT AND THEY LOOSE OUT?!!??!
its a good job youve got it written down nick :)

Never thought of that truck. Well Said.

Your threads have been removed by a moderator, Nick.

Any threads which are advertising something for sale must be posted in the 'Classified' section and use the prescribed format.

The rules state:-

By posting on this forum you are deemed to have agreed with and accepted the rules set out above. Please be aware that not using the form above will result in your topic being deleted.

Topics complying with the rules of the 'Classified' section will not be removed, and therefore no information will be lost.

In order to avoid any further threads being removed, please post them up in the 'Classified' section using the format provided.

Cheers :good:

truck, you are entitled to your opinions, but consider it from an administrator's point of view. First and foremost, there isn't any requirement that there be a buy, sell, swap section at all -- the rules could simply be "no transactions of any kind shall be conducted on this forum" and any and all posts that try to sell or trade anything be deleted. William is trying to be nice to include such a section -- the only thing that is asked is that all the rules be followed. In my opinion, that isn't too much to ask at all. It's the same anywhere else -- if you post an ad in the newspaper, there are rules you have to follow to have your ad posted. If you post an ad on craigslist or eBay or any other service, there are rules that have to be followed. At least here the board doesn't demand that you pay the forum a cut for using our webpage, our member base, etc.! So, when someone posts something not following the rules, that post is removed. The rules aren't hard to follow, if you just follow them, then there isn't any issue.

If contact information were to be lost, nothing is ever permanently deleted, so you could always PM a mod and ask for that information back.

But, all in all, if we want to keep a buy, sell, swap section going, take 12 seconds of your life and post according to the format that is asked of you. It isn't that hard, and it is just a very tiny price to pay to keep it going. The other choice is to not have one.

I think it is okay to leave this thread open for a while if more comments want to be made, but keep it civil or else this thread will be locked as well. Thanks.

Threads are never deleted, only moved to the junk bin in the mods forum so they are always accessible to us.

I was not the one tht removed it but I'm sure it was as a result of not using the sales form as has already been stated.

I have been posting in the classified section in reference to filling out the form, and at times thanking members when they did edit to fill it out. I posted a notice that they will be given 24 hours to edit their topic to the proper format, or else risk having the topic removed. I bumped my own reminder, posted in each section, with an edit of attention in the topic title.

The rules were understood by other members here; http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=286742

After it was announced here; http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=282775

And clarified here; http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=285920

So, more than enough warning has been given, the adherence to the new format has been shown, asked, warned, posted, referenced, and so on nearly to death.

At this point giving members who do not follow the format a note to edit is doing them a favor, as it bumps their topic. It also gives them 24 hours of breaking the rules, something we never let happen with any other situation that violates the rules.

Last time I checked we don't have members or sections with preferential treatment, and I don't think we are going to start.

If you actually have something for sale, you may list it in the Classified section, Nick16. But, starting threads to see if there is interest beforehand is a different matter.

BTW, this thread is being moved to the Board Announcements and Suggestions section.
