There's actually 4 in there. Two females in the large section (although one is being treated for an infection in a separate tank right now).

I am going out this weekend to get another one of these tanks to give them more room. The red betta you can see in the picture is a new guy, who was bigger than I thought once I brought him home.

I also have a male betta who is mostly blue, with a few red patches. The females are brown with red fins, and a blue/purple colour.

Thanks Withington. I have a piece of driftwood on the right, the one on the left is a planted piece, and the one in the middle is actually a planted rock.

The fish are happy, they spread nicely through the tank, and the two gourami's get a chance to set up thee own territories. They get a little playful after meal times thoug, but nothing too agressive.

Thanks

It is, but my bettas seem so much more happier, and colour up more when they have the room to move.

And the red guy in my pictures is a little larger than my other bettas, and is quite active, so I'd like to give him the room to move.

well if its three gallons, and not evenly divided, its less than one, plus that is a big betta.

Im glad your getting a new tank for him

Dont your females fight because there arent 4-5?

I've only got 2 females in one tank and they are top chums - if it works it works, if it doesn't then it doesn't. But with Betta's there aren't hard and fast rules. If you have a filtrated divided tank I see no problem with a min of 1gallon per fish - depending on actual size of fish of course.
It would be nice if you get give your red one a little more room though.

One of them (the females) is more dominant than the other, so the smaller one stays out of the way of the bigger one.

They are separated at the moment as the smaller one was getting very stressed from being chased around and has a small wound near he tail. She is being treated with melafix, and regular water changes, and being kept nice and quite in my hospital tank until i get the new tank this weekend.

Have two tanks now for my bettas. Unfortunately Holly (the one I menioned was being treated has passed away, so i will be looking for another betta for the other half of the brown tank soon.
