My one foot by one foot tank is a bit old and there's something is scary about it, there are bubbles in the structural layer of silicone, they look exactly like the bubbles you see when you disassemble a tank and I'm afraid It'll fall apart with all the fish in it! :( I'm getting a tank the same size tommorow and I'm just wondering if anyone thinks I should move all the fish across...

PS: I wanted to use the second tank as a hospital tank...

I forgot to add that the bubbles definitely weren't there when I got the tank...

My three foot cracked the other day and It would be a disaster if this one fell apart :-( :( ! Luckly The three foot cracked while I was standing in front of It and I know I didn't crack it, I didn't even touch it...

If it was my tank, and I was concerned it was going to fall apart, then, yes, I would transfer all the fish to the new tank. You can always leave the old tank filled with water and wait and see if anything bad happens. But I'd rather not have anything "bad" happen with fish in it!

If you are really uneasy about it, relocate the fish to the new tank and then scrape off the old silicone and reseal it. Here's a link to a topic on resealing a tank resealing

Thanks for all the help :) . I moved all the fish across but the new tank is shorter than the original  . Anyway, Instead of tedoing the entire tank: I just reinforced the secondary layer of silicone... Hope that works considering it's gonna end up being either my hospital tank or my fry tank...

two tanks - ouch!

How are you supporting the tanks? even small tanks break if not level and with something like polysterene to protect them from imperfections in the surface they sit on.

sorry if its teaching you to suck eggs!
