i have a 21 (uk) litre tank with 3 goldfish and three sarasa comets. i take it this is the maximum number of fish i can keep in it. i am looking to buy a bigger tank (secong hand) just wondering peoples opinions on the size i should get as i want to add the fish from original tank when they get to big and also keep other fish to like weatherloaches and other coldwaters. also what tempreture is goldfish and comets best kept at and also what is the maxiumum i can keep them at if i want to have some warmer climate fish in there to.

I think 21 liters is about 4-5 gallons which is much too small for the amount of fish you have.
The common and comet type fish need at least 20 gallons each to be comfortable and a lot more than that as they grow.. preferably a pond!
So you are looking at a 120 gallon tank  or a nice big pond for them all.
Try not to mix any other fish with them, they will compete for food and preffer different temperatures. Weather loaches should be ok though.

your current tank is waaaay to small for that many goldfish,i would say you need at least 100 gallons to keep just these fish let alone add more.

Do you have a garden big enough for a pond?

I suggest you dig one, or spend close to £200 on a very large 125 Gallon tank. Sorry this isn't the info you probably wanted to hear, but goldies grow very large, and need a lot of room to be happy. They also create a lot of waste, most than other fish, so to have such a small tank with so many fish, you would have to do every other day water changes and have the tank over-filtered!

Is there a filter currently in the tank for them?

yeah it is filtered and cleaned out every week. the tank is very very clean and can be left for 2 weeks without cleaning and the water is fine by look and chemical test. i am trying to find a decent 120 lirte tank which i want to keep coldwater to slightly heated tank

Are you sure your tests arent out of date!?
Even if the params are ok, the fish will still end up stunted from the small water volume.. and probably dont have much room to swim.

120L is still wey too small for that ammount of fish.
