Low-power LEDs often found on fish sites or ebay work well. You can also look for "cold cathode" tubes popular amongst computer overclockers :)

Nice lookin tank so far. What's going in it?

being concentrating more atm on getting the tank up and running, so not a definite list yet would like a pair of black and white clowns. maybe a Royal Gramma.
but in just taking it a step at a time, need to get my clean up crew sorted first :good:

was told yesterday that i had too much base rock and this may lead to nitrate problem because of flow issues or some thing so i removed a load this morning

I agree with ^above^ does look more natural!

Whata are you planning to put in there? :)

decided i would like a Royal Gramma, pair of common clowns, fire fish and maybe a goby.

Hi and welcome

I actually liked the tank better with more rock in :good:

What tank is it, how many gallons? What are your plans for corals? How long has it been up and running - questions, questions :p

the tank is a juwel vision 180, 40 gallon UK tank, 55 gallon US i think. two sun sun 3000 lh power heads, using a red sea prizim skimmer, i have left the juwel filter box in only to hide the heater and juwel power head. i have two arcadia 250w halides, the tank has being running saltwater since mid to end of November  taking things slowly.
i would like to keep a variety of corals bur not yet sure what yet not got to the stage of reading up on them. i liked the tank with more rock in but i was having a few nitrate problems and was told this may have being the cause  only time will tell. its runn ing with out a sump because of the stupid design of the juwel stands and the amount of work involed changing this

:gasps for air:

i like both versions, but if your gunna have a lot of corals you might not have room in the first set up for the future rocks that corals will come on, like i didnt =[

Looking like a good start, fish list sounds good as well.

I did prefer it with more rock in. Not sure who told you about base rock causing nitrate problems but I would say thats rubbish. If you have enough water flow in the tank (which you have) then the base rock wont make any difference.

Are you using RO water?

yes im using RO. i think the problem with my nitrates may be that i still had my internal filter sponges in and a canister filter running on the tank up until about two weeks ago.

thanks all for your comments, added 10 turbo snails last night. they have set off cleaning my tank. will upload more photos as the tank progresses

found these on flebay Item number: 230316674267
