Ok, with my 6-gallon tank (look below to see what fish I have in it), it never looks like it needs a water change. Although I've only had it going for 3 weeks (i added cycled water from another tank so i could get fish in it) it still should look somewhat dirty, shouldn't it?? The only dirty thing about it was the algea (which is good) and the filter had some stuff on it. I did a water change today. Should I do a water-change more than once every 3 weeks even though it looks clean??

I know this is a dumb question to ask

a clean tank, doesnt mean that you have a safe tank. like it was posted above. i too, do water changes once a week(25%) no matter my what my water quality is like.

The water in your tank needs replacing not just when it gets dirty but regularly once a week, especially as it's a small tank. Water changes keep the nitrate level down and also replace the minerals that are found in fresh water which are needed by your fish to keep them healthy.
