My Rocks Have Green Hair!

Hi All

My rock appear to grow green hair!!! Can any one advise on this. I am sure it is some sort of algae or moss etc... But how do i get rid of it? It grows very fast and needs removing every week to stop it taking over the tank!!

Green Hair Algae is a nightmare and very difficult to cure permanently! There are a few chemicals out there that can help stop the growth etc but they are really just a stop-gap or band-aid, when using them there is no guarantee of it never coming back!

Here are a few very helpful articals! The first cured the problem in my old tank, but its very time consuming!

I got rid of my green hair algae problem by simply replacing all the plastic plants I had in the tank. Mine were old and needed replacing anyways but if you're in a similar situation it might be the easiest way.
