What gorgeous girls! Sorry, I'm assuming they're both girls because of Nina's name.

Out of interest, have you heard of the dangers of keeping rats on wood shavings? I know it's commonly thought to be suitable, but it causes terrible respiratory problems in rats. I use cardboard bedding, or Aubiose (hemp bedding), but you can use 100% paper cat litter too :)

Love that last pic i enter that for the pet of the month competition, so cute.

In my five years of using wood shavings I've never had a problem with it, one of my rats lived on it for 4 years without any resp problems so I don't plan to change it although thanks for the concern. :)

Pine and Cedar are the ones to look out for. In addition to causing respiratory problems it can (and will) damage the internal organs, which you won't see. I heartily recommend that you look up information about the phenols in pine and cedar so you know exactly what your decision means. If you do want to keep using wood shavings, Aspen is generally considered to be safe so that may be a good choice. :good:

They are adorable rats! :) Vex sure does look comfy.
