My Pumps Too Loud! :(

Hi there people.

My ehiem 5000 compact pump is loud sucha as viberations ...is there any type of foam spoung i can use to put it on or any other solutions to this?

As its new it might just be bedding in does seem strange though. Is it in your sump?

yes seffie its in the sump tank. Il double check if its on its suckers still. would you reccomend placing it on the bottom of the sump or side glass?

id place it on the bottom.

use a think bit of polystyrene off a poly box

you mean the big yellow car sponge
i don't know whether they are inert
or not if they are they would be OK to use
as long as they get washed a few times
first in warm water

I wouldn't, if you do you will have to take it out each week and clean it.....if you forget, there be trouble ahead

Take it out of the sump and do a bit of experimenting, when is it worse, it what conditions, what is it that is causing the noise......... and even, do other people think it is noisy or is it just you? However be aware, there is no such thing as a silent piece of kit over here on the saly side

Everyone in the house thinks the humming is loud. Prob due to it being a powerful pump. I know there isn't a silent piece but its jus tht its in the passage when u enter and you can hear it a little in the bedrooms lol. Mite try anothr pump if I find one . Also seffie is there a way to make the return pipe more silent? Because the water travels down the pipe it sounds like water fillin up in a bottle lol? Any way possible?

Sorted thanx guys. Ended up thinkin like a fish loll it wasnt the pump. one of the Tunze flow jets was bit noise so now got one working. Will look into it after. Just need to sort out the noise from the return pipe. Anyone heard of a Durso Fitting that allows air or somthing to quieten it down...
