just some advice for anyone who plans on getting one of these guys DO NOT USE SMALL GRAVEL it will get stuck in there mouths as did mine and now he is gone :byebye: it really sucks he was the coolist fish i had. what really sucks is that he was eating really well and other people that i know that had them could never get them to eat but the one i had was a little pig and was getting really big :byebye: well looks like im going to have to get bigger gravel and try again.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, do you have any pictures of him? If so, I would love to see them. :-( :byebye: :/
thank you for your concern. i have a pic of him in the members pic forum just type in pipe fish in the search and you should find him.

Thank you very much, and what a nice fish! I have never seen them in any lfs, but he is beautiful! Good luck in finding another, I hope you find another that eats like a pig! And btw, how could I not be concerned for a fish so beautiful and interesting!
Once again, good luck and keep smiling! ;)

Sand would be a better choice of substrate then gravel as they feed in tiny micro organisms that live there.

I hope i can find one again. the lfs i got him from said that they are trying to get some more but cant find any at the moment...but when thay do they are going to hold two for me :D this time i will use sand as the substrate. also thank you cfc i did not know that they ate micro-organisms from the sand. well i guess you live and you learn. sometimes the hard way.
