I have two Corydora catfish, a male and a female. The female has reached maximum size, but the male has always been a lot smaller, and one of his fins is longer than the other. He has always been a bit of a 'runty' fish, and I think he must be stunted. A couple of months ago he seemed to have some sort of fit, and kept bouncing of all sides of the tank in this crazy frantic motion, and when he got back to the bottom he would often sit there very still and sometimes roll over on to his side and not get up. I had no clue what was wrong, and was trying to look it up - but he got better quickly and has seemed fine recently, except for both of them spending most of their time in the little dark cave, which is odd.
He has been hiding a lot lately, and yesterday I saw him and watched him closely. He wasn't moving and his top fin was clamped down, so I inspected him in the net. A healthy fish would try to avoid it and look for a way out, but he sat in the net and lay on his side. He is is alive, but obviously ill. I put him back on the bottom and he obviously wanted to swim away, but he just lurched of the ground when he tried - he cant actually swim properly, it looks like he has no 'buoyancy', he has effort just moving to his side. He has been in the corner all day, basically motionless, and if he rolls on his side it takes him ten minutes for him to try and get back up again, and he might not at all. The female has nudged him and spent most of her time next to him, and he's is not touching any food. He seems to have lost a will to live. I'm so worried, please help! Ammonia is very low, I've done a water change and all other fish seem fine (but the female cory is acting worried and staying near him).
Thank you in advance
