my dog has been diagnosed with "sards" had any one had any exsperience with a pet that has sards? and sards stands for Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome she is all bling and bumping into things and it all has happened in weeks

I had a female Brittany spaniel with SARDS about 10 years ago. Fortunately we had 2 dogs at the time and she would just move around the yard with the other dog more or less leading her. When she was outside alone, she was almost afraid to move around, but with the other dog, she would feel OK just moving with him. After a while he caught on to what she was doing he had fun running towards objects and stopping suddenly to see her bang into things. She also learned to pay attention to his movements and got to the point that she was almost always able to interpret what he was up to. I am afraid that it might have been quite different if she had been alone with just us and the kids though.

I have only one dog, sadly over the summer in a matter of 3 weeks she went from fine normal swimming at the lake playing ball, long walks, hiking,to starting bumping into things being afriad of loud object,I personaly thought she was having an off day or two but things got much worse to the point were I could tell she was blind.its very upsetting for me since i have grown up with her and she is still rather young just turned 7 october 2.So we took her to the vet and exsplaned what she had.
