about 4 years ago i built a pond in my garden. basically i hole in the ground with a waterproof lining. i then tried putting in goldfish, the pond ones but after a few months they disappeared, i think maybe the seagulls ate them or the pond hadnt matured enough. i recently put in some lillys and stuff to make it look a bit nicer

i was wondering if i tried to put fish in again do you think they would survive. i have no filter or anything for it. its a hexagonal shape about 6ft across and 4ft deep.

thanks

I can see no reason why they would not survive, but I've got all mine covered with a soft netting to keep out the King Fisher who actually dived in while I'm watching him. Just remember, that your outside pond has so much natural foods in it that maybe a twice per week feeding is enough. Good luck!

as long as its not koi its fine..maybe a couple of goldies. with no filtration youre limited on the number of fish as the fish have to be able to join the eco system...a goldies waste can pollute any pond fast and with no filtration you would have to rely heavily on plants to do this for you.

and keep it covered, cats as well as birds can fish...

wildlife ponds are good..can see all sorts of bugs in there.

some places will sell native fish like sticklebacks.

newts are an option aswell they are awesome we have the great crested ones in ours, they are a protected species I didn't buy them but they are still fun to watch.

i wouldn't put any fish in yet. leave it until the weather warms up a bit and even then only put a couple.
